Comprehensive Auto Brake Repair Services

We provide a full range of brake repair services to ensure your vehicle performs at its best. Our services include:

Anti-Lock Brake System
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) ensures your wheels keep rotating during braking, preventing skidding and providing better control. If your ABS light illuminates, visit Mission Village Auto Care for a diagnosis and professional brake repair.

Brake Fluid Flushes
Brake fluid can absorb moisture from the air over time, diminishing brake effectiveness and becoming corrosive, potentially harming the system. Regular brake fluid flushes are vital to ensure fresh fluid usage in your vehicle. Consult our technicians to determine the right time for a brake fluid flush.

Brake Hoses
A brake hose carries pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brakes. A damaged hose can lead to delayed or weak braking, and a leak may result in brake failure. While the need for a replacement brake hose isn't common, any signs of cracking or wear should prompt immediate replacement.

Brake Pad & Shoe Replacement
Squealing brakes often indicate brake pad issues. When brake pads deteriorate completely, a harsh metal-on-metal grinding noise occurs during braking, indicating potential rotor or drum damage. Although experienced individuals may attempt home repairs, if you have brake concerns, it's best to consult an auto repair professional promptly in order to receive the highest quality auto brake repair.

Caliper Replacement
The brake caliper houses brake pads and clamps around the rotor to apply pressure during braking. Caliper problems can cause uneven braking, leading to skidding during braking and loss of control in adverse weather conditions. Contact Mission Village Auto Care in San Diego at your earliest convenience for assistance.

Resurface Rotors
In a disc brake system, rotors attach to your vehicle's wheels. The friction with brake pads over time creates grooves and cracks. The process of resurfacing restores rotors to a "like-new" condition, reducing noise and wobbling.

Signs of Bad Brakes in San Diego

Driving conditions in San Diego can put added stress on your vehicle’s braking system, making regular inspections and awareness of warning signs especially important. Catching brake issues early can help prevent more costly repairs and keep you safe on the road.

Unusual Noises While Braking

Squealing, screeching, or grinding sounds often point to worn brake pads or damaged components. Ignoring these noises can lead to further damage over time.

Soft or Spongy Brake Pedal

If your brake pedal feels soft or requires extra pressure to engage, there may be an issue with brake fluid levels or air in the system. This can significantly impact stopping ability.

Vehicle Pulling to One Side

When braking, your vehicle should remain stable. If it pulls to one side, it could indicate uneven brake wear or a caliper issue that needs attention.

Burning Smell After Braking

A sharp, chemical odor after heavy braking may suggest overheating components. This should be checked promptly to avoid further damage to your braking system.

We Offer Brake Servicing on Most Vehicles

Mission Village Auto Care offers professional brake services for most makes and models, including cars, trucks, and SUVs. Our technicians are trained to work on a variety of braking systems and stay up to date with modern vehicle technology.

Auto Brake Repair FAQs

Learn about some of the common questions you may have:

Why are my brakes making a grinding noise?

Grinding noises often mean that your brake system is critically worn and requires immediate attention. This sound typically indicates that the brake pads have worn through.

Why are my brakes squeaking?

Squeaking brakes might be caused by something as minor as road debris or as urgent as worn-out pads. It's a sign to check your brakes before the condition worsens.

Why are my brakes vibrating?

Vibrations during braking usually point to uneven rotor surfaces. Our team at Mission Village Auto Care can inspect and resurface your vehicle's rotors to eliminate this issue.

Why are my brakes making a burning smell?

A burning smell from your brakes suggests they're overheating. Stop driving and check if your parking brake is engaged. If smoke is visible, it could be due to a stuck caliper.

How do you repair a sticking brake caliper?

A sticking brake caliper can cause uneven braking, poor fuel efficiency, or even serious damage if ignored. The repair typically involves inspecting the caliper slides and pins for corrosion, cleaning or replacing them as needed, and ensuring proper lubrication. In some cases, the entire caliper may need to be rebuilt or replaced-especially if the piston is seized or the rubber boot is torn.

While some experienced DIYers might attempt this at home, brake system repairs are best left to trained professionals to ensure your safety. If your brakes feel off or you suspect a caliper issue, stop by Mission Village Auto Care so our technicians can take a look and get you safely back on the road.

Fair and honest. Great service. I've been going here for years with several cars, Toyota, Ford, Acura, BMW they do it all. They recently took care of my son's brakes and with him being a new driver I feel so secure knowing they did the work. I highly recommend!

We would like to thank Mission Village Auto Care for being so helpful this week! Our daughter's car was towed by Western Towing on move-in day to her very first apartment. We went to retrieve the car which was basically new, less than 500 miles, and were horrified to hear a metal rubbing noise by the wheel on our way back. Not wanting to drive it too far not knowing what was going on we stopped at Mission Village and one of their team members immediately identified the problem and fixed it on the spot! The tow company had bent some protection ring around the brake pad. Friendly, super helpful and they knew their stuff! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I honestly cannot recommend Mission Village Auto Care enough. We had purchased a van for my father-in-law that needed some work done and from beginning to end their service was phenomenal. They did a full tune up, rear shocks, transmission service, axle/wheel bearing replacement and anything else that the van needed. You can tell they took care of everything. It drives and runs so much better! Not only was their work amazing but they were so honest and upfront about everything. No hidden charges or charging you for extra things they “found.” Everything was straightforward and communicated with me along the way. They kept me updated every step of the process which allowed me to trust that they were doing everything they said they would. You can’t find that kind of trust with just any shop. I will be taking my car there from now on and if you want the best quality, honest service around, Mission Village is your place.
