Purchasing New Tires - Maintenance & Services

Choosing the Right Tires for Your Vehicle

Tires are one of the most important safety components of any vehicle. They are your car's only point of contact with the road, meaning all safety systems-like antilock brakes and stability control-depend on proper tire performance. Without regular tire maintenance, your tires may lose traction, compromise braking power, and put your safety at risk.

Understanding Your Tire Maintenance Schedule

No tire lasts forever. Even with advances in tread technology, factors like vehicle type, driving habits, and road conditions can shorten a tire's lifespan. That's why it's important to follow a consistent tire maintenance schedule based on your owner's manual or advice from certified mechanics. Keeping up with tire rotations, pressure checks, and tread inspections can significantly extend your tire's life and keep your ride safe and smooth.

Don't Ignore the Tire Maintenance Light

When the tire maintenance light appears on your dashboard, it's not something to brush off. It could indicate low tire pressure, uneven tread wear, or an overdue inspection. Addressing this early can prevent costly repairs or dangerous blowouts. If you're unsure why the light is on, stop by Mission Village Auto Care in San Diego, CA and we'll get your tire health back on track.

We offer the following services to help you prolong the life of your tires:

Tire Balancing
If your steering wheel shakes or your ride feels rough, your tires may be out of balance. Our techs use precision equipment to evenly distribute weight and eliminate vibration, ensuring a smoother and safer ride. Call us at 619-280-2354 if you have questions, or contact us so we can evaluate your tires.

Tire Inspection
Tires should be inspected regularly-ideally during oil changes or tire rotations. We check for tread wear, cracks, bulges, punctures, or foreign objects that could cause failure. Even small imperfections can evolve into dangerous situations.

Tire Repairs
Our tire experts inspect your tires to determine if they can be safely repaired or need replacing. We follow strict safety standards-if the tire can be plugged and patched properly, our certified technicians will handle the repair to get you safely back on the road. For punctures or sidewall damage beyond repair, we'll recommend the right replacement option.

Tire Rotation
Tire rotation evens out wear across all four tires, maximizing their lifespan and helping you avoid premature replacements. Generally, tire rotation should be done every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. Mission Village Auto Care can help set up a schedule tailored to your vehicle and driving habits.

Wheel Alignment Services
A proper wheel alignment adjusts your suspension and steering geometry to factory specs, ensuring even tire wear, better handling, and increased fuel efficiency. Misalignments can occur over time or after hitting potholes and curbs. For expert alignment services, schedule a visit to Mission Village Auto Care.

Choosing the Right Tires for Your Vehicle

When it's time for new tires, choose ones that perform well in braking, handling, and wet conditions. If winter traction matters in San Diego, that should factor in too. The team at Mission Village Auto Care can help you pick the right tires and create a tire maintenance schedule to match your driving needs.

We offer most major brands of tires. These are a few of our preferred brands.

Tire Maintenance Related FAQs

Is it okay to mix tire brands on a car?

Sometimes mixing brands and models on your car is unavoidable, but having a complete matching set is best. If possible, use the same tire on the front or rear wheels. While it's not usually advised, you can mix different tire brands on the same car, if you follow a few simple guidelines.

Those include: never mix winter tires with all-season or summer tires; and to not mix run-flat tires with non-run-flat tires. For guidelines in the San Diego area, give us a call at 619-280-2354.

What are the benefits of rotating my tires?

Tire rotation ensures even wear, extending the life of your tires and promoting a smoother, more balanced ride. It also improves handling and reduces the risk of uneven traction.

At what mileage should I rotate my tires?

Most manufacturers recommend rotating tires every 5,000-7,500 miles. However, this can vary depending on your vehicle's drivetrain and driving style. Let Mission Village Auto Care in San Diego help determine the ideal rotation schedule.

Does my tire warranty influence my rotation schedule?

Tire manufacturers know that tire rotation is important for even tread wear. Tire mileage warranties are most often set by the manufacturers with tire rotations included. Failing to rotate your tires may void your tires manufacture warranty.

How does snow tire usage influence rotation decisions?

If you have snow tires check your tire pressure and rotate your winter tires on a regular schedule. Rotating snow and winter tires is important to maintaining even treadwear and preserving maximum traction in icy conditions.

What People Say About Us

Mission Village Auto Care has earned a customer for life!! I previously left a review after they repaired a van we purchased for my father-in-law, but I wanted to update it because they've continued to exceed every expectation. Unfortunately, within about 700 miles of buying the van, the engine completely failed. It was a major repair that no one could have anticipated. At the time, the van was in Fresno, but because of the trust Marvin and his team had already built with us, we made the decision to have it trailered all the way back to San Diego so Mission Village Auto Care could handle the repair. That alone says everything about the confidence we have in them. Replacing an engine is a significant investment, so we got quotes from several other shops before making a decision. Even though it was a costly repair, we still chose Mission Village Auto Care because of their honesty, transparency, and the confidence they gave us throughout the entire process. Marvin kept us informed every step of the way, explained everything clearly, and never tried to sell us anything we didn't need. They replaced the engine, took care of several other items while everything was apart, and made sure the van was repaired the right way. Since getting it back, it has been running flawlessly without a single issue. Finding an honest, trustworthy mechanic is incredibly difficult, but Marvin and his entire team have consistently proven they put their customers first. The quality of their work, their communication, and their integrity are second to none. If you're looking for a shop you can genuinely trust with your vehicle, I can't recommend Mission Village Auto Care highly enough.

I don’t leave reviews very often but I have to for these guys. They went above and beyond to give me exactly what I asked for. Would definitely recommend to check these guys out. Prices were fair and work was done in a reasonable amount of time.

Had an issue that started at Discount Tire (highly recommended) and was sent to MVA. Great guys, they took good care of me and had me rolling in less than an hour. Good experience, ask for Marvin.

Brought my '97 4Runner in for suspension work, ball joints, and an alignment, and couldn't be happier with the experience. They were straightforward about what needed to be done, kept me updated throughout the process, and never tried to upsell me on anything unnecessary. The truck drives noticeably better now, and it's clear they take pride in their work. Honest, professional, and fair pricing—exactly what you hope for in a mechanic. I'll definitely be back for future work and would recommend them to anyone looking for a shop they can trust.

I honestly cannot recommend Mission Village Auto Care enough. We had purchased a van for my father-in-law that needed some work done and from beginning to end their service was phenomenal. They did a full tune up, rear shocks, transmission service, axle/wheel bearing replacement and anything else that the van needed. You can tell they took care of everything. It drives and runs so much better! Not only was their work amazing but they were so honest and upfront about everything. No hidden charges or charging you for extra things they “found.” Everything was straightforward and communicated with me along the way. They kept me updated every step of the process which allowed me to trust that they were doing everything they said they would. You can’t find that kind of trust with just any shop. I will be taking my car there from now on and if you want the best quality, honest service around, Mission Village is your place.
